The Kiln producing "Clinker"

In accordance with the company policy regarding completing its production lines and building an integrated cement industry and for settling the cement industry in the country, the company installed a new Kiln for the production of clinker (the essential raw material for the manufacture of cement). The kiln started operation in the year 2001 with an operational capacity that reached 2.5 million tons annually. The company also established two mills for the raw materials each with a capacity of 250 tons/hour and two clinker silos for storage of 50,000 tons capacity each. The new kiln was constructed using the latest technology with a 126 meter high thermal exchanger. Concurrently with establishing this kiln, the company constructed a covered conveyor belt for the transportation of the raw materials directly from the port to the plant allocated for feeding the kiln, which is 780 meters in length, 10 meters in height, across the street, with a design discharge capacity of 1500 tons/hour, through ship unloaders installed to mechanically unload the cargo from the ship. The unloader system installed is considered one of the most efficient systems in the world for stevedoring of raw materials.

In view of the company’s need for increased clinker quantity to cover the difference that resulted from the expansion of the grinding capacity, the company commenced the establishment of a second kiln in the year 2008, for producing clinker. The second kiln is being built within the location of the present plant with an operational capacity of 2.5 million tons annually. This is in addition to the present installed capacity and the total operational capacity for producing clinker will reach 5 million tons annually. The company will also build two mills for the raw materials each with a capacity of 300 tons/hour and two silos for storing clinker with a capacity of 60,000 tons each. Also, a thermal exchanger of 151.5 meters in height will be installed. It is expected that the second kiln will come into operation soon (God willing). And Concurrently with the establishing of the second kiln an installation of a second large ship unloader with capacity of 2000 tons/hour, also, an installation of a covered conveyor belt which is 1500 meters in length for the transportation of the raw materials directly from the port to the plant.
